Coherent noise attenuation using inverse problems and predictionerror filters

چکیده

have a white spectrum. In this paper I show how the residual can be whitened when coherent noise is present in the data. Outliers and noiseburst problems are not addressed here. They can be winnowed out by applying, iteratively, a locally re-weighted regression (Wang, White & Pratt 2000). In the first section I review some basics of inverse theory. Then in the following section I introduce two inversion methods that yield white residuals. The first method proposes approximating the noise covariance operators with prediction–error filters (PEFs). The second method handles the coherent noise by introducing a noise modelling operator within the inversion. These methods are tested with field data.

A hybrid adaptive subtraction method

A hybrid adaptive subtraction scheme is proposed. This hybrid scheme uses predictionerror filters as covariance operators within the filter-estimation step. This methods proves to be the most efficient when the noise and signal interfere. Although prediction-error filters are utilized, this technique is not a pattern-recognition technique: it simply tries to remove the correlated signal informa...

A pattern-based technique for ground-roll and multiple attenuation

We present a pattern-based method that separates coherent noise from signal. This method finds its mathematical foundation in the work conducted by Nemeth (1996) on coherent noise attenuation by least-squares migration. We show that a similar inverse problem can be formulated to attenuate coherent noise in seismic data. In this paper, we use deconvolution with prediction error filters to model ...

Application of Single-Frequency Time-Space Filtering Technique for Seismic Ground Roll and Random Noise Attenuation

Time-frequency filtering is an acceptable technique for attenuating noise in 2-D (time-space) and 3-D (time-space-space) reflection seismic data. The common approach for this purpose is transforming each seismic signal from 1-D time domain to a 2-D time-frequency domain and then denoising the signal by a designed filter and finally transforming back the filtered signal to original time domain. ...

Coherent and random noise attenuation via multichannel singular spectrum analysis in the randomized domain

The attenuation of coherent and random noise still poses technical challenges in seismic data processing, especially in onshore environments. Multichannel Singular Spectrum Analysis (MSSA) is an existing and effective technique for random-noise reduction. By incorporating a randomizing operator into MSSA, this modification creates a new and powerful filtering method that can attenuate both cohe...

Error analysis of a multi-step prediction based blind equalizer

Blind equalization is used to compensate the inter-symbol interference caused by a communication channel without using any known training sequences. For many practical channel types, a suitable delay at the output of the equalizer allows for achieving a small estimation error. Blind equalizers may be implemented with linear predictionerror filters (PEF), but the delay cannot be controlled with ...
